Artifact Descriptions: ISTC 541 Foundations of Instructional Technology - Technologies for Collaboration. The assignment explores technology standards provided by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). The whitepaper provides a demonstration of methods used to collaborate and to communicate about the Utilization standard. ISTC 702 Educational Leadership and Technology - Using Discovery Unitedstreaming. This presentation took students through the Discovery Unitedstreaming website. Initial 30 day membership would allow students to view the site and make a decision for their schools.
Relevance: ISTC 541 Foundations of Instructional Technology - Technologies for Collaboration. The white paper describes some technologies our group used to enable learning, collaborating, and communicating about a current standards used by professionals in the field of instruction development and utilization. After sharing information remotely, we invited students to see and respond to our work. the The LMS uses technologies to create and to instruct to meet AASL standard 3.3: Information technology. ISTC 702 Educational Leadership and Technology - Using Discovery Unitedstreaming. The presentation allowed pre-service library media specialist to review a website which contained multi-media research tools. I was able to facilitate the evaluation of this site by gaining 30 day access and by presenting an introduction to the site in an online space, during a the summer graduate class.
Analysis/Reflection: Use of digital tools and emerging technologies were explored throughout the coursework at Towson University' Instructional Technology program. In the Introductory course, ISTC 541 Foundations of Instructional Technology, I had multiple experiences with digital technology to use for collaboration and presentation. This would engage students in learning on a variety of levels. I used a free program to create a short presentation about a tool to create bibliographies. This could be stored on the school server and watched over again, for students who needed continued support using the tool for citing sources. I also worked with a partner remotely to research and create a presentation about an AECT technology standard. During a summer experience in online class ISTC 702, I designed instruction for other graduate students to teach about a research database, Discovery Unitedstreaming. By arranging for usernames and passwords that were good for 30 days, I allowed access to the subscription database for all students in the class. They would have time during the presentation and for the rest of the month to explore, evaluate, and use this information resource. As a candidate in both experiences I was able to meet the AASL standard 3.3 for Information technology.
